Default Unlocking Hero armors

I remember reading that you could unlock different armor skins for your heros and yet i haven't yet found any clear way to change the way they look after playing the game so far(however i haven't gotten that far). Can someone fill me in on what is known so far about changing their skins and how it works(and i don't mean into corsairs during that mission on the newb island, i mean the 3 possible skins that A-net talked about).
Also, if anyone has any screenshots of what the other armor looks like on the heros that would also be much apreciated.
thanks for the info.

In the challenge mission you will get "armor pieces", take those to a Hero Armor NPC to get the armor set for one of the supported heroes there.

See this thread for one of Zenmari/Olias' armors from later in the game.

Also, it's 1 piece gives the entire armor set.

Well my question still stands, what makes you get the stolen sunspear armor? Is it random? Is it dependant on some specific critera?

They are random drops from enemies in the challenge from what I have seen.

But they seem to be QUITE rare...

I don't know if you need to break the daily high score to get them to start dropping, or if they are just random...

Maybe if you get over 100 points you get the armor?

I think it's completely random because i got an armor piece with a score of around 30. And this was in the inlet mission on the mainland.

I think we figured out that you get the armour BOTH randomly AND if you get 100 points.

I think I read about the armour peices, either from and ingame npc, or in the manuscripts

It said you will only ever get a few of these for each character, so you shouldnt sell them etc.

This seems to me like each character you have has a cap on how many armour peices you can get in the game, im thinking its one for each hero.

But as for the droprate, no idea, I got one after scoring like 40 points, so i think its just random.

My theory is that it happens at a TOTAL points gathered... at certain points, like 100, 200, 300 ,400 or maybe 100, 300, 600, 1000.

For the Djek Inlet (spelling?), I think you get one just for trying first time, and you get another for killing over 70.

First try I got 72 and me and my partner both get 2.
Second try I got none, as we only get 68.
Third try both of us get one each, for over 70.
Fourth try I tried alone, over 70, got one.
